OK this is another kind of challenge.

This challenge is all about you getting results. Its all about you testing yourself and challenging your limits today and far into the future.

This challenge is a feat of strength, endurance and mental power.

The goal is to do as many (near perfect) reps as you can in 3 minutes.

That’s it. Do your best and add your score below as a comment. You can come back and update your score in a month by adding to your comment if you like or start a whole new one.

Here is the challenge.

Each exercise will take place over 3 minutes.
There are 3 exercises, but you can do this for as many as you like.

Get a 3 minute timer working for you. Don’t have one? Use this >> http://e.ggtimer.com/3%20minutes (it starts right away, so just refresh it [F5] when you need to start the timer again)

Exercise #1: Bodyweight Squats.

Get your butt between your knees or lower on the down side and stand up tall on the upside.  Form over function counts here.  You want to keep your spine erect and your core strong.  Don’t let your back bone slide (to quote the great rappers from back in the day).  Pace yourself, you can really burn out on this total body challenge with a squat.

REST: As long as necessary… up to 3 minutes that is.

Exercise #2: Push Ups.

Regular or from the knees it does not matter, this is you against you. Keep your body stiff in a plank position from start to finish. Touch your chest or better yet your nose and extend all the way to the top with straight arms.  Do NOT let your form slide on this one.  No spaghetti spines as my Master Corporal used to say.

REST: As long as necessary… up to 3 minutes that is.

Exercise #3: Chin Ups/Pull Ups.

This one could be a bit daunting to do, but the good news is that once you get the hang of it you can only get better. Take an overhand grip shoulder width apart and pull your “chin up” to the bar or higher. Come down under control to a full extension and stretch to begin the pull up once again.

***NOTE: You can rest as much as you like, but the goal is to do better in this challenge every 30 days. This will set a real metric point for you and to be honest the brutal reality and simplicity of this test will surprise you. I suggest you do as many as you can the first time, keep a good pace and have fun.
