Fat Loss Super Shake Contest

Hey its time to fire up some spring season fat loss shakes.  

Yeah I’m nuts, and its still cold but I’m trying to get you all ready for what is just a few days to weeks away depending on where you live (assuming you live in the northern hemisphere.  Sorry my friends in Oz and all the lands down under, but you too will benefit from this challenge.

I’m going to do something exciting.  This is something I wanted to do for a long time.  I have been working offline as a supplier of Personalized Nutrition Programs, Supplements and other goods to the fitness industry for many years now and we have done this contest a few times fitness club by fitness club, but this is a GLOBAL CALL TO ACTION!

Incredible Shredded Healthy Hulk

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup ice
  • 21 grams vanilla protein smoothie powder
  • 1 scoop greens drink
  • 1 tablespoon real lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup frozen mixed berries
  • 1 teaspoon flax seed oil or coconut oil

Super Food and Super Bowl Ads

Good morning… I thought I turned this on for you last night during the 4rth quarter of the New Orleans Saints playing a heck of a come back dog fighting gnashing and gnawing game against the heavily favored Manning and his powerful Indy Colts.

Well I guess while I missed the first quarter waiting for wings, then getting a call to go get some medication for my oldest (6year old) daughters ear infection and get home to get something in her to drop her fever I must have messed up the code to post this at the start of the fourth quarter.

Great news is that like many of you I had some extra goodies.  Medium “heat” wings, a few handfuls of chips and some diet pepsi (it came with the wings free, got to love when the big corporate sponsors run promos like this for the little people like us).  The other great thing was I got to see some of the game, but more importantly it was with a good friend and in the end with my amazing wife.  So I got the best of both worlds, watching the Super Bowl with both Family and Friends.  Thank you Lord.

So before I give you the Super Bowl Ads to watch in the comfort of your own browser, I have to ask, could there be any team more deserving than the Saints this year?  Could any City or State be more deserving of a come back culminated with their team being on top of the world for one of the BIGGEST sporting events in the world?

I think not.  Congradulations to the Saints, New Orleans and to Lousianna for a super come back from that beast of burden that nearly wiped you out a few years ago.  You deserve every bit of publicity and appreciation you can get for the NFL Champions.

MOTIVATED & EMPOWERED TO SUCCEED (part 1)

MOTIVATED & EMPOWERED TO SUCCEED

This is a short and easy post for you to work from and help fast track your results.  This is part 1 in a 3 part series.

Let’s establish two simple things: first, the reason you are doing this, and second, what the end results will mean to you. To answer those questions, go grab a pen, because you’re going to write your answers down right here in this book. After all, “a book not written in is a book not read”. Don’t think too much, just write down the first thing that pops into your head. This is your emotional reason and the true reason why you’re doing something to change your life.

1. Why are you embarking on a life changing and empowering nutrition and health program?

2. How will you feel when you achieve your Best Lean Body ever, the Ultimate You?

To understand your answers to these questions, we’re going to analyze them a little bit. The reasons for embarking on a journey to create Your Best Lean Body can generally be broken down into three main categories.

They are:

Personal – I want to feel better, be stronger, be leaner and have more endurance (self-enhancement).

Medical – I want to be healthier and live longer (self-preservation).

Cosmetic – I want to look better (self-esteem).

Notice that all of these reasons have one thing in common – they can be summed up with a “self” word – self-enhancement, self-preservation, self-esteem. These reasons are about you. That doesn’t mean you’re being selfish. You probably already spend most of your time doing things for other people, and that means you’ve had to make sacrifices. But those sacrifices shouldn’t have to include your health, self-esteem, well-being, or the opportunity to reach a new level of athletic achievement. After all, if you’re healthier, happier, fit and more energetic you will also be a benefit to everybody around you!

To get you to where you want to be, you’re going to set yourself some goals. That’s what we’re going to tackle in the next section.

Tips For A Great After Shot

So the transformation challenge is almost over.  D Day is looming, you want the best “After” Photos you can muster up.  To help you I have talked a few things over with my good friend John Barban, he’s that creative training guy with Adonis Index (www.WhatsYourAdonisIndex.com).

If you remember we encourage you to include your training and exercise program by name in your Success Story as the guys at www.WhatsYourAdonisIndex.com are also running an event and we think it is only right you enter your Success Story to EmpoweredNutrition.com and if your program has a challenge right now, enter that one too and tell them you are using our EmpoweredNutrition to compliment thier training programs.  Its not illegal, its grey and it dooubles your odds of winning.  I hope you win 2x, 2x.

Here are my tips to a great after shot.

Tips for a great after shot


1.
Clothing – select appropriate clothing.  Start with your After clothing.  I like to use single color, snug clothing.  Typically you would choose a set of yoga pants and top.  Guys, sports shorts or your Marky Mark Walberg Calvin Klein boxers will do the trick, I have some snug Under Amour shorts I prefer these days.  I would go with black, white, dark blue or green.  Try to use one that is similar in look and color to your Before Photos Clothing.  That will really make things pop and people will notice you and your transformations, not your clothes.abs_-_beach

2.    Make Up – wear it, but don’t go looking like Tammy Faye Baker.  Just add enough to add strong eccentrics to your lines and color.  Too much and the lights will make it pop up.  Too little and photography lighting or stage lighting will wash you away.  Shooting your photos at home, just barely go darker and stronger than normal.  Be sure to match your face to your body color.  Everybody screws this up the first few times.  One time I went on stage and the guy next to me looked like he cut off his head and glued it on someone else’s body.  His face was white like Casper the ghost and his body looked like the darkest corner of the farthest reaches of outer space.

3.    Hair – Dew it.  Go ahead, go get a cut and style, it’s worth it.  After all it’s not often you do this sort of thing.  But don’t go color crazy, just style, trim and highlight.  Remember your hair will last longer than the spray tan and you want to be proud to show off those pictures. Hair can make all the difference to a good tan and great body.

4.    Skin – I hope you have been showering, loofah and coloring for the week.  This will give you deep color and make your pictures show real good.  If you have blemishes, don’t be afraid to use a little foundation, even for the leg bumps you might get from shaving.

5.    Shave – Make sure you shave.  YES GUYS!  You shave your face, but shave your body too.  Trust me, it will look awesome and if you don’t like it, it grows back.  Don’t be afraid it will be thicker or darker… that’s a myth to some extent, my wife’s an aesthetician and I have been doing it for almost 2 decades now.

6.    Glow – you want to GLOW, not shine.  That said, just before the photos, you want to apply a light coating of a spray oil.  I am assuming no one ran out to buy a $60, 4 ounce jar of Final Touch.  Baby Oil reflects light.  Pam and the likes will refract the light around your body to highlight and accentuate your curves.  DON’T put any oil on your face, the lights hit it first and you could wash out all your features so no one will see its you in the pictures.

7.    Colour – it’s a bit late now, but I hope you used color all week, even the last few weeks and tanned a few times a week for the last 2-6 weeks.  Not to worry if you haven’t.  DON’T run out and tan or burn now.  It’s too late to create a base and will end up retaining water and leaving all your hard earned definition and muscle tone under a layer or bloated burnt skin.

8.    Hydration – stay well hydrated, but in the last few days and the day of the shoot reduce your water to minimal levels.  This will help you keep water retention down and show your details.

9.    Get Pumped – a light pump is all you need. Just do a series of body weight or band workouts and get the results you are looking for, not an engorged non detailed body part.

10.    Angles – play the angles.
a.    When taking your photo add lighting at various levels and angles.
b.    Get your camera set up, just slightly higher than head level.  Tilt your chin up just a bit.  This reduces any accidental double chins.
c.    Angle your body this will give you a leaner appearance than head on.
d.    Angle your upper and lower body giving a slight twist makes the torso show the hard work you put into this project.
e.    Angle your hands on your hips and other places.  This leads to a leaner appearance.

11.    Back Ground
– plain, simple no images or distractions.  This is your body we want to highlight.  White, black or tan backgrounds work best.  Just make sure it is different than the color of the outfit you are wearing.

12.    FUN – HAVE FUN.  Take a million + 1 photo’s.  It’s worth every second and digital snap you take.  Change into 10 0diffeent outfits and poses; you will thank me for this tip later.

13.    SUBMIT – send in your transformations success stories and don’t forget to include your 200 word success story.  Oh yeah, just in case you forgot you MUST have a paper with the date to verify you actually did what you said you did on the date you said it happened.  Thanks for all your hard work I can’t wait to see your success story.

14.    PARTY – do exactly that.  I always planned a party dinner after the event and so should you.

Cool New Tools and a Question For You

I have been working diligently at many things to help increase your success with fat loss and muscle building.  Don’t get me wrong, each one is calculated and will help me increase the company’s success, but not all are about the success of Empowered Nutrition.  In fact most of these new projects are directly related to increasing your success and providing you with more tools that will help you succeed in your goals while making it easier to do so.

Let me give you a rundown of what is in development for you.

Empowered Space a Community – soon to be released at 3447868_thumbnailwww.EmpoweredNutrition.com/Community.  This one is really cool since it is all about you communicating with others.  Complete with mini blogs and forums.  I mean I like the idea, I got my tech team on it and I don’t really get it, but it’s cool.  YEAH, you can even get your own Empowered Blog going.  So if you are a decent writer, trainer, transformation winner, or just an average Joe or Jane like me, you can blog on our site.  That’s cool.

Empowered Success Coach – this is a very powerful program that is FREE with each and every Personalized Nutrition Program.  It is NOT to replace the Empowered Nutrition Private Members Area, but a completely free “Add-On”.  This is the power of a coach working (via email) to keep you motivated and on track and educate you along the way for increased nutrition, exercise and supplement knowledge.  This is a major undertaking and will work with you for your 90 day transformation and beyond.  You will get more support when you need it and less when you don’t, but Your Success Coach will be there for you driving you forward to your goals.

How to Increase Your Skin Tone

Well today as promised I want to discuss “How to Increase Your Skin Tone”.

This one could be a bit odd to many of you, but it’s an old dog and pony show that I am very familiar with from my days competing.  You don’t need to go as far as I would, but here’s the gist of it all.

I start tanning 2 times a week from week 6 if I can.  If you haven’t don’t worry.  I suggest getting a tan today and Wednesday, just a light one, don’t burn.

If you have been tanning, stop on Wednesday, maybe Thursday, no later.

Tanning, especially burning will cause you to retain water in the skin.  It draws it from your muscles and stores it in the skin.  It’s a reaction to the harmful rays.  So less is better and some color is better than none and way better than burning for many reasons, the most important being health and well being and cancer free.

Consistent tanning can help you dry out a bit as well.

OK, so this part is going to be a bit odd for you.

LUBE UP!

Yeah that is WHACKED!  I said it, “LUBE UP”.  I want to help you get great skin tone and elasticity.  To do that, you will need to keep soft and moisturized every day, maybe 2-3 times a day to be sure.  It will help skin color and tone and allow that skin to shrink wrap your body and those new cuts just a bit deeper.  It really does help a lot.

Start using a loofah or scrub bud all over your body.  This will help get the body ready for the lotion, slough off dry dead skin and make way for new skin as well as prep the body for better color.

If you are going to spray tan, now is the time to start, not the day before.  Sometimes you can end up looking more like a messy mud pie than a buffed and built bronzed goddess or statue of desirable proportions.

Go deep, get a deep rich color, layered on layer on layer on layer.  Buff each day in the shower and apply a new even coating to your color and moisturize often during the day.  When you think you are dark enough go darker.

Take a look at these photos and tell me if you see the difference.  Seriously I know you are not going on stage, but you get the idea, the lights can wash out your cuts and lean lines fast.  A healthy tan looks good and if you are onstage you need to look like a chocolate moose before going up there, even if you are naturally dark skinned you need a tan and some added color.  Trust me it helps.

How to increase the tight lean look

OK, I think that title says it all.

Now the question is “How to increase the tight lean look, Patrick, you meat head nutritionist?”

Well its not always simple, but the answer is true.  Blood, sweat and tears.  OK maybe not that bad, but it will be a challenge.  I know you are up for it and it will be easier than you think.

Let’s Review:

We doubled our water – this is paramount to getting just a bit tighter than you could expect and paramount if you want to look tighter and leaner than an average day at the beach.

How else can we look tighter with nutrition?  Simply you can follow the previous suggestion and the outline for water intake, but there is another step to this trick.  You MUST swap all your simple carbs, fruits and dairies for more complex, high fibre and nutrient dense options.

  • Bananas for Rice Cakes
  • Rice Cakes for Potatoes
  • Apples for Oatmeal
  • Grapes for Broccoli
  • Milk for Protein Shakes made with water

You get the idea.  You also want to start to limit what we call dry carbs.  These are simply the breads and pastas and for the most part man made products.  These are already limited in your meal plans, but even this moderate shift away from dry carbs, fruits and dairy will make a huge impact on your appearance and quite honestly will dip a bit deeper into the fat stores for more crisp looks to your new lean body.

I would even suggest going with a tried and true STOP day.  Brad Pilon can give you a ton of science on this Eat STOP Eat theory, but I know how it works for fat loss and in the case water shed.  Here’s the snap shot of it all.

Eating causes water retention.  STOP allows the body to clear the system for better digestion.  Eating can fill out the muscle bellies, but also cause you to bloat in the waist and spill over to the skin giving that watery and smooth appearance.  A STOP can cause you to burn just a few more fat cells in the last few days.  Most importantly, carbs retain water, a STOP day will cut that problem off.  Now here’s the neat cool thing I know from experience.  A STOP day is not the magic you are looking for.  In fact it’s the eat day right after the STOP day.  You see when you start to eat again, the body naturally has a rebound effect and dumps a load of water.  This is especially true when you take in solid amounts of protein and fat and keep the carbs limited.  If you haven’t played with a STOP day, I might suggest you skip this trick.  But if you have done Eat STOP Eat and it works for you, then you will want your STOP day to be next Saturday December 12th for a full 24 hours.

How do you do it. Eat the Empowered Nutrition way until Friday evening, say 5pm.  Then after a solid Empowered Dinner, you will STOP all calories for 24 hours, until dinner tomorrow.  Eat a clean Empowered Dinner on Saturday at 6pm.  No snack that night, just 1 meal.  Then Sunday start with an Empowered Nutrition Breakfast, without any simple carbs, I suggest your favorite Empowered Oatmeal and Egg or Protein Smoothie breakfast (just keep an eye on your liquid intake) and get back on track eating every 3 hours for the rest of the day.

There you have it, one more way to get tight and lean without doing anything at all.  Literally NOTHING at all.  Very cool and just so we are very aware, from personal experience it works.
